The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
