Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for consideration by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a whistleblower provided information indicating the inmate is preparing the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for executive mercy.

Specific details of the clemency request are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

These meetings reportedly involve a designated private space for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and potential for unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about who she should tell her contacts to call and how staff would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release indicates that those writing to her would send files directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to scan and provide to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was more content at the Texas facility than her former location.

This past summer, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as the President's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and called on the chief executive to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court rejected an appeal from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
